10/20/2008 Man...a week flew by! I could've worked on Sunday, but I wanted to get the garage rearranged...again...so that I can get both our vehicles in this winter. It limited my space to work on the airplane, but I don't really need a lot of room to work on it at this point. Tonight I started with the Plane Power alternator install. This was a snap compared to the last one! All the proper hardware, brackets, and belt were included. Yeah, it added some cost, but the ease of installation plus built in over voltage protection, and regulator is a huge headache removed! None of the bolts are tight yet, but it's nice to have it installed...finally!
Then I moved on to the first of the engine hoses. The VA-133 hose is the oil pressure hose that goes from the restrictor fitting on the accessory case...
...to the manifold transducer on the firewall. I couldn't find the DG7 clamps in my clamp drawer, so I'll have to grab a couple at work tomorrow.
Next was the engine breather tube. It connects thru a fitting on the back of the engine, and uses a rubber tube to take away vibrations to the aluminum tube on down.
It's clamped to the firewall next to the heater box...
...and is positioned to exit over the exhaust pipe. I had to turn the clamp around and run the tube on the other side of the engine mount tubing from the picture above to this...
I have it plugged with a red rubber stopper. Tomorrow I am going to put the desiccant plugs in the oven to turn them blue again. With the engine internals being exposed while fitting the exhaust, the plugs are very pink, so it's time to bring 'em back. 2.5 hours |
