Well Brit is out of town for the next four days, so I plan to pretty much work on the airplane, and hopefully finish up my Cessna 195 radio control model...at least to the point of being ready to cover.  I have Wiley with me, so he'll be hangin' with me all weekend!  Brit has Yeager at an obedience seminar in Michigan this weekend.

Earlier in the week, I removed the desiccant plugs from the engine because they were getting really pink...

After 3 hours in the toaster oven at just under 200 degrees, they look like this!

Good as new!

Tonight I finished up the alternator installation by torqueing the bolts down, and setting the tension on the belt.  There is a mathematical way to do it using measurements of belt sag, or you can use a torque wrench to "slip the belt" using 100 inch pounds as the benchmark.  It took a few tries to get it right, but I finally got it to slip at 101 in-lbs, but not at 99 in-lbs.  It would be easier with a dial or pointer type torque wrench, but this worked out.  Yes, this is a Service Instruction...

I also finished out the safety wiring on the bolts.

Next I installed the two clamps that hold the oil pressure line to the firewall.

Then it was on to the fuel lines.  I started with the lines that run from the fuel pump to the manifold transducer and to the carburetor.

I am missing the fitting for the carb side of the fuel line, so it's just sitting in place here-

Then it was the line from the fuel pump to the gascolator-

None of the lines or fittings are tight, nor are they installed with fuel lube or tight seal yet.  I just wanted to check the routing tonight.

The last thing I did tonight was bend the little piece of tubing that forms the exit end of the fuel pump overflow.

Another thing I can't find is the plastic tubing that attaches this tube to the fuel pump overflow fitting.  I'll probably have to go buy some...I looked everywhere for it.

2.5 hours

The big news of the day...my friend Brad Oliver got his instrument rating today!!!  WAY TO GO MAN!!  That is a HUGE accomplishment!  Wish I was out there to celebrate with ya!
