10/9/2008 Short night tonight...I decided earlier this week that I am canning the idea of making the 60A Van's alternator work. I don't feel like figuring out the whole voltage regulator thing, not to mention the cost of one, or the over voltage protection deal. I sold the whole package to a guy that knows this stuff better than me, and I ordered a new Plane Power 60A alternator kit from Van's. It's internally regulated AND has built in over voltage protection. So while I wait for that, I began working on the engine control bracket for the panel. The engine control cables will be run soon, so I need to figure out where I'm going to put them in the cabin. Here are the front and rear brackets ready to be drilled. The front one is labeled in red how I thought I would configure the controls, but I think I am going to do it how the green wording shows.
Here's the front bracket after being drilled. This is the standard spot, and is more than likely where I'll put it. I have a thought of putting it right in front of me...but I'm not sure that's really practical.
We're out of town for the next few days, so I won't be working on the airplane again until mid to late next week...bummer. October is going to FLY by!! 0.75 hours |
