9/29/2007 I didn't think I'd get to work at all today because we leave for vacation in the morning, but Brit decided to go see her Grandpa at a horseshow for his birthday, and I got pretty much everything ready to go (and everything ready for our dog sitter for the week), so I headed to the garage! First, I riveted the angles to the F-706 bulkhead that will be the mount for the strobe power pack. I also countersunk the top angle for the screws that will go in that one.
Then I installed the power pack.
Below you can see the flush screws that are needed there so they don't rub the back side of the bulkhead skin. The bottom bolts nest in one of the corrugations (I think I said that already the other day...).
Then it was on to the static system. First I threaded the 90 degree elbow on each port. Then I drilled a #19 hole in the left middle J stringer to mount the "T" fitting.
Next, I cut a couple pieces of line to the proper length, installed them in the quick disconnect fittings, and secured the lines.
I made little clips to hold the line up near the longeron, where it will run up thru the 705 bulkhead. I have not yet drilled the hole or run the line thru that bulkhead yet though.
Then I made little fairings from some scrap metal off of a Cessna 172 rudder that we had at work (actually the center tunnel cover and those little clips above are made from the same sheet...I hope this doesn't slow my airplane down. You know...having parts of a 172 in it... ;o) ). These are easily made from a paper template, and bent by hand with my hand seamer.
It was nice to get some time in before we go! I did cover the airplane in plastic drop cloth before coming in because my garage seems to accumulate dust rather quickly... 3.25 hours |
