9/20/2008 Seems like time on the airplane is at a premium these days...I didn't think I'd get any time on it today, but managed to work on it a little. I decided to work on the brake lines. I brought home a tubing bender from work, and I'll get Carl's Rolo flare tomorrow. I first needed to get a rough idea for the placement of the lines, so I cut the tube to approximate length, and clamped it in place after making a couple of bends.
The right side has to run across the engine mount, then down the gear leg...
Other than attaching it to the gear leg and engine mount with some clips and tape, all I need to do is flare the tubes, and attach them to each end. Since I won't get the flaring tool until tomorrow, I decided to try and figure out how the crank sensor for the Light Speed ignition will attach to the case. I have some reading to do on this subject, but I know there's a thread on VAF about this. Here it's just clamped in position...
I hope to make some good progress in the next month or so before it gets cold. My plan/time for this winter looks like it's shaping up to be working on Jim Cunningham's Sonex in his warm basement, so I need to get some stuff done on this before then. 1.25 hours |
