Other Stuff-NEW!

I thought I'd create a page to give a quick reference to the vendors that I'll be choosing between as I make my way though this project.  This will be a constantly growing list as new stuff becomes available.

Vans Aircraft

Engines

Lycoming is coming out with a new line of experimental engines, as well as kit engines. I bought a rebuilt Lycoming engine.

Aerosport is another lyclone engine manufacturer, built in Kamloops, Canada.  One of the MOST reputable engine shops out there.

Don's Dream Machines  Don and Jeff Swords own this shop, and they built the engine that Jack Holland has in his airplane.  True top brass work!

The REAL Franklin Aircraft Engines  This is the actual company in Poland that holds the TC for the Franklin line of aircraft engines.  They are working hard to bring new engines to the market, and have expressed interest in working with my airplane for RV installations.

C.G. Lucas Company, LLC  This is a company in Oklahoma that specializes in overhauling Franklin engines.  They always have a few for sale, and have plenty of parts available.

Franklin Aircraft Engines  This company has revived the line of Franklin engines from the past, and is now offering FWF kits for the RV-8, and soon to offer the same for the RV-7.

Eggenfellner is an engine manufacturer of Subaru conversion kits.  They provide a firewall forward kit for this ultra smooth opposed powerplant.

Mistral is a manufacturer of a rotary engine based on the Mazda, but built for aviation from the ground up.  Lots of research and engineering has gone in to this engine and reduction drive.  Expensive, but the best bet out there for FWF rotary power.

Belted Air Power is an alternative engine company that has a package based on the Chevy 4.3L V-6 that puts out about 180hp.  Neat and simple.

Barrett Precision Engines  Monty and Allen Barrett run this engine build shop.  They have a great reputation and are the orginators of the now famous IO-390 low compression, high horsepower engine.

Penn Yan Aero  Another of the engine build shops.  They are one of several shops authorized by ECi to build the Titan Experiment Kit engines.

ECi and Attaway Air make lyclone engines, and are makers (ECi is) of the Titan series cylinders.

Mattituck is a manufacturer of aircraft engines based on the tried and true Lycoming power plants.

Superior engines are another of the lyclone variety, but incorporates roller lifter technology.

Innodyn is a leading edge technology company with a brand new turbine engine aimed at the experimental market.  My first choice if money is no object (it will be).

Crossflow is a Canadian company that makes a Subaru conversion that is very nicely packaged, and great looking, but has really burned bridges in the RV community...

Powersport Aviation is a manufacturer of firewall forward rotary kits.

Real World Solutions is a company headed by Tracy Crook, who provides an alternative method to a rotary installation.  Also has developed some electronics for engine control.

Jabiru is a company making airplane engines in Australia from opposed four cylinders to eight!

Propellers

Catto props are fixed pitch composite props from Craig Catto.  Great prices, and a strong, reliable propeller.  Prop is ordered from Catto!

Felix Propellers is a small one man prop shop that is now featuring BiCambered Technology in his airfoils.  Very cool stuff, and definitely worth looking at.

MT Propellers is another manufacturer of composite props, but these are constant speed.  Made in Germany.

Hartzell is a prop company that has been around for a long time.  Maker of constant speed metal props.

Sensenich is a maker of fixed pitch metal props, and now composite blades for the Quinti hub electric constant speed prop.

Whirlwind Propellers is a manufacturer of constant speed composite props.

IVO Prop is a company making ground adjustable, electrically in flight adjustable, and now constant speed electric propellers in composites for a very attractive price.

McMaster Carr    Harbor Freight    Aircraft Tool Supply

Cleveland Aircraft Tools    Brown Aviation Tool Supply

Miscellaneous

James Aircraft Sam and Will James make cowlings and pressure plenums that increase the speeds with the same horsepower over the standard Van's cowl...at least, that's the claim.  I'll be using one, so we'll see. I have purchased a James cowl.

Flightline Interiors is an interior shop for experimentals, specializing in RV's. My interior is ordered from Flightline!

Classic Aero Designs is another interior vendor with very nice quality, pre-fitted stuff.

Aircraft Extras is a company that has many original products, as well as selling other products at a discount.

SafeAir1 is a company that makes a great kit for pitot-static systems, as well as several other unique products.

Ignitions

Light Speed Engineering offers the most tested and experienced electronic ignition out there.

Emagair makes electronic magnetos as a direct replacement for mags.

Unison Industries is one maker of traditional magnetos.  They make the Slick brand of mags, probably the preferred brand.

More to come!
